Do your thing – Last week for this week – Volume 4 – Oct 26 2018

Last week for this week(3)I’ve spent a lot of time cultivating a SoundCloud algorithm over the past couple of years. As a way of participating in the culture I’m going to try a regular playlist with microreviews (a term I’m pretty sure I’ve coined). Here are 7 tracks I listened to last week to get you through to the end of this week. This one’s got atmosphere, sophistication, and orchestral trap house.

ZenSupremacy chromecrowns x stripess – LIKE THAT!

There is something about having Busta Rhymes whispering sweet nothings in my ear that makes me feel good. The beat has a great shuffle that has me nodding like I do to a Dilla tune, but faster. The breathlessness to the track that makes me want to get where I’m going faster.

IHATECOUNTRY Restart

Sweet and urgent like a toddler that wants to show you something she never seen before. The drop is the triumphant look on that toddler’s face when you see your that she’s hidden your shoes in the dishwasher.

TT (fka Tobago Tracks) Noctilucents – Run With Me

Amplifies the innate sophistication of Biggie Smalls. His honest lament of the changes money can bring is paired with an earnestly emo plea for companionship; the icy cool beat moderates all the emotion into something you can vibe to.

I don’t really know anything about sound design, but I’m pretty sure this is an example of good sound design. Breaking glass, a pomodoro timer, the silenced PPK from Golden Eye and a digging shove all cruise together under a mellow organ floating like an orange maple leaf in an autumn puddle.

imagiro endless w/ dretty pope & heartz

I remember walking from my best friend’s house in one part of the endlessness of winter suburbia to my own. It was dark, a light snow was falling on top of the blanket that already hid the sameness of the landscape under better one, and I had a song stuck in my head. It was this song.

Fresh Selects Low Leaf “Yah Yah”

The soundtrack to an Adam-and-Eve themed party from the golden era of the “I-read-it-for-the-articles” Playboy mansion. Innocently funky, with the juice of that apple starting to hit guest tastebuds.

haven 𝔊𝔩𝔞𝔠𝔠𝔦 – 𝕃𝕌𝕍𝕍 (𝔥𝔞𝔳𝔢𝔫 𝔯𝔢𝔪𝔦𝔵)

Distilled epicness, this tune makes the eagles soar higher, the lens flare brighter. and the jet-ski go faster. I’m going to go with “orchestral trap house”.

That’s it, if you liked this please follow me on SoundCloud cause I’m reposting this type of stuff like ALL THE TIME.
